Travel tips for visiting Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo Subway

Due to its size, Tokyo is not a city to walk in, if you want to go further than your neighborhood. Also, cabs are extremely expensive. The subway, besides being cheaper it's also much faster than the cabs.

The Tokyo subway is easy enough to use, though going from one district to another can still take a bit of time. A ticket dispenser in English can usually be found in most subway stations. When you're in a train you will see announcements and signs in English. You can spend a bit of time when changing trains, due to the size of the stations. If you want to use subways during rush hour, try to avoid it.

Ideally, you should research the journey before you take the subway, learning what line you need to take and where you need to change the train.

If you want to eat lunch at an acceptable price, you can do that as well in these stations.
